Review: Affordable Korean Multitasker Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

Hey everyone! Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel. This product has been a staple in my skincare routine for a while now, and I’ve had plenty of time to gather my thoughts and experiences. Let’s dive into the details!

First Impressions and Texture

When I first picked up this product, I was immediately drawn to the sleek, green packaging that resembles an aloe leaf. It’s visually appealing and gives off a fresh, natural vibe. Upon opening it, the gel itself is clear and has a lightweight, almost watery consistency. The texture is incredibly smooth and non-sticky, making it a pleasure to apply. It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated without any greasy residue.

Key Ingredients

The gel contains 99% aloe vera extract, which is known for its soothing, hydrating, and healing properties. Aloe vera is a fantastic ingredient for calming irritated skin, providing moisture, and promoting skin regeneration.

Other notable ingredients include:

  • Bamboo Extract: Adds additional moisture and has anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Cucumber Extract: Known for its cooling and soothing effects on the skin.
  • Centella Asiatica Extract: Helps in healing and repairing the skin barrier.

Benefits and Application

I use the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel instead of the Serum Serum Serum for my Foreo Bear Mini. While it’s not the best option for the Foreo Bear Mini, it’s quite affordable and gets the job done. Here’s how I use it:

  • After Cleansing: I apply a generous amount to my face and neck. The gel has a lightweight, non-sticky texture that absorbs quickly into the skin.
  • As a Mask: Sometimes, I apply a thick layer and leave it on for about 20 minutes for an extra boost of hydration.
  • For Sunburns: It’s my go-to product for soothing sunburned skin. The cooling effect is immediate and very relieving.

Pluses

  • Affordable: One of the most budget-friendly skincare products I’ve used.
  • Multi-Purpose: Can be used as a moisturizer, mask, or after-sun care.
  • Lightweight: Doesn’t leave a sticky residue, making it perfect for layering under other skincare products or makeup.
  • Soothing: Excellent for calming irritated or sunburned skin.

Minuses

  • Smell: The fragrance is quite strong and cheap, which can be off-putting for some. It doesn’t smell as natural as I would prefer, given the high aloe content.
  • Not the Best for Foreo Bear Mini: While it works in a pinch, it’s not the most compatible product for use with the Foreo Bear Mini. It doesn’t glide as smoothly (I mean, some pain, yuck!) as other serums I tried with the device.

Personal Insights

I grew up using aloe vera on my face but stopped in my late 20s because the aloes on the market got so sticky and bad smelling. I can not tell you how happy I am to have found this aloe. The packaging is cool and stylized, the smell is amazing but not overwhelming and the aloe light and smooth. It doesn’t feel like you put a layer of aloe on – it’s absorbs into the skin so nicely without any stickiness. Highly recommend!

– Amazon Customer

I’ve found that incorporating the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel into my routine has been a game-changer, especially during the summer months. It’s incredibly refreshing and provides my skin with the hydration it craves without feeling heavy. However, the strong scent is something I wish they could improve on. It’s not a deal-breaker for me, but it’s definitely something to consider if you’re sensitive to fragrances.

Despite its minor drawbacks, this gel is a fantastic addition to my skincare arsenal. It’s versatile, effective, and affordable – making it a great option for anyone looking to add a soothing and hydrating product to their routine.
