This list includes body cleansers based on or infused with oils. These products are recommended for people with atopic dermatitis and those with dry and sensitive skin. If your skin quickly loses moisture, itches, and you often forget to apply moisturizing cream regularly, shower oils can help compensate for this a bit. Interestingly, many cleansing oils are not actually oils (despite their names) but shower gels with added oils. Here are 6 products I like:
1. Eucerin Calming Body Wash Daily Shower Oil
It’s gentle, delicate, fragrance-free, and dye-free – suitable for both children’s and adults’ skin. When in contact with water, it turns into a “milk” and slightly foams. The base ingredients are castor and soybean oils.
2. Bioderma Atoderm Hydrating Shower Gel
Not an oil, but a shower gel with added oils, niacinamide, and vitamin E. It contains fragrance. This is always important to keep in mind when buying products for atopic skin. On the other hand, throughout the time I’ve used it (and I love the brand and all their products a lot), it has never caused any skin reactions.
3. Cerave Eczema Soothing Body Wash
This is an excellent shower oil, similar to Eucerin. It’s based on soybean and castor oils, urea, cholesterol, and sodium PCA. Suitable for both children and adults.
4. Eau Thermale Avène XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil
Called a lipid-replenishing oil, but it’s actually a very gentle shower gel with added oils. Nevertheless, it is suitable for people with atopic dermatitis and those with very dry and sensitive skin.
5. La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil
Also not an oil but a shower gel – with niacinamide, shea butter, and karite oil.
6. L’Occitane Cleansing & Softening Almond Shower Oil
This is an actual oil. In my opinion, it should not be used during flare-ups (when there is itching or irritation), but if your skin is calm, L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is a pleasant product. It gently cleanses, smells delightful, and leaves your skin soft after the shower – even if you don’t apply any post-shower cream. A life hack for those who always forget to moisturize.
