As I explored the Northern Virginia area, I wondered what kinds of individuals and families lived in the variety of houses I came across. The designs and colors in the surrounding area were the elements that initially caught my eye. Although the aesthetic of a house might lead you to assume the type of family that occupies it, you can never fully know until you meet those individuals.
This series came to fruition after I moved to the suburbs of Alexandria, VA in 2015. I've never lived in a suburban area, so I decided to document my new terrain. All photos were taken on various color negative 35mm film with two different cameras.
