Kings of Leon
The multi-platinum selling band will release their highly anticipated seventh studio album ‘WALLS’ last October 14th through Columbia Records. The Grammy Award winning group decided to return to their recording roots in Los Angeles and worked with famed producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Florence + the Machine). The album has received widespread critical acclaim with NME declaring the, ‘Kings are well and truly back’ and Rolling Stone describing the new music as, ‘Kings at their best’.
Santa Monica, CA's Weezer released their new, acclaimed, self-titled album (aka "The White Album") last week; this week, the album has landed at NUMBER ONE on the Top Rock and Alternative charts, NUMBER TWO on the Top Current Albums Chart, selling close to 50,000 copies, and NUMBER FOUR on the Billboard Top 200, with over ten million album streams across all digital service providers. Weezer ("The White Album") is the first release on Crush Music's new label venture with Atlantic Records; it is the band's biggest debut since 2009 AND their eighth top 10 album in their career.
"That is the best thing about Weezer in 2016: The group still holds its own singular identity. It's what makes some of its most effortless offerings, like "California Kids" and the trotting, mournful "Jacked Up", seem ideally set for the radio dial that has afforded Weezer so much success. They are songs that are anthemic without demanding singalongs." – Stereogum
Catfish and the Bottlemen
The most exciting new guitar band to break through in the UK this decade is Catfish and the Bottlemen. Their tightly honed melodic two-guitar rock draws from new wave, indie, garage, and grunge. 2014 debut album, 'The Balcony', written by "lithe and excitable" young front man Van McCann, has just been certified Platinum in the UK.
2016 saw them carry on rising effortlessly where they left off the previous year, relentlessly touring both sides of the Atlantic. In UK, A summer of sold out open air shows in support of their Gold status second album "The Ride" was coupled with several visits to play Festivals and major cities Stateside. Having been voted Best New Band in the UK at the 2016 Brit Awards Catfish and the Bottlemen have certainly delivered and proved the voters were backing a winner.
They begin 2017 with exciting tours of Australia, Japan and South America, and embark upon a major stadium tour of USA Summer of 2017 with Green Day.
Fitz and the Tantrums
Having made a splash with the soulful R&B-revival sound of their debut album, 2010’s Pickin’ Up The Pieces (released on Dangerbird Records), the band offered up a New Wave-influenced dance-pop sound with its Elektra Records debut, 2013’s Heatseekers No. 1 More Than Just A Dream, which featured the gold-certified and #1 Alternative Radio singles “The Walker” and “Out of My League.” The album’s success sent Fitz and the Tantrums on a two-year touring odyssey, which enabled the Los Angeles-based sextet — known for its explosive, no-holds barred live shows — to cement themselves as one of the country’s hottest live acts.
Jimmy Eat World
Before Jimmy Eat World entered the studio to record their ninth full-length album, Integrity Blues [RCA], the members of the multiplatinum Mesa, AZ rock band did something they’ve never done in over two decades.
“We took a little break,” smiles lead singer and guitarist Jim Adkins. “I came to a realization,” admits Adkins. “In the break, writing was a little trickier. I wanted to change things up. So, instead of writing about a problem, I wanted to write about a solution. If you look at your life for what’s going wrong, it won’t be too hard to find things. If you start looking at what you have rather than what you’re missing out on, you come away from things with a much different perspective that’s a lot more grateful and positive. As an album, Integrity Blues is about trying to overcome that personal struggle instead of getting upset with what life could be that it isn’t.”
They recorded in Los Angeles with Meldal-Johnsen, offering a different setting from their usual Arizona digs.
