There’s only a little truth in photography. That’s the underlying foundation upon which this series is constructed.
Recently, I traveled around New Zealand, and the kernel of an idea for a project emerged as I soaked in one of many incredible sights. Surrounded by a throng of tourists all seeking to capture the perfect shot for social media.
My goal was to construct a fake narrative from the photographs that I shot throughout my journey. This was hardly a revolutionary idea, after all, those social-media fiends were doing just the same thing. However, while they were aiming for idealization, I decided to construct a more offbeat piece of fiction; something dark, uncertain and ambiguous.
‘A Fabrication of Being’ is the resultant series, presenting a fictive vision of my short travels through New Zealand.
